The impetus behind Jah Ali - Doctor Phono Remix - (originally written by Atlas Maior for Ali Pervez Mehdi) was to take the composition, and turn it over to Claudio Ramirez AKA Doctor Phono, to be reinterpreted through a different creative lenses. This remix is influenced by the late night club cultures of South America, Pakistan, and the US, influenced by travel, creative cross-pollination, and the underlying theme of music in motion. These interpretations are inspired by the late night work musicians put into their craft on the road, working in clubs, and while in the studio. This remix is about the late night grind, and the musical bliss that finds artists at unexpected times.
Jah Ali - Doctor Phono Remix - features renowned Pakistani vocalist, and 2021 Coke Studio recording artist Ali Pervez Mehdi. Atlas Maior’s Joshua Thomson and Josh Peters collaborated with Mehdi on Fall 2020 releases “Nazuk,” and “Ya Ali,” were featured in Jazziz Magazine, KERA’s Art and Seek, and received editorial placement within Spotify’s playlist “Folk Fabrique.” Each single garnered positive international reviews and radio play across 8 different countries. Atlas Maior and Ali Pervez Mehdi have now expanded their collaboration to include the talents of Félix Pacheco, the creative mind behind of Cilantro Boombox, and Claudio “Doctor Phono” Ramirez, contributor to the Chacaíto Dub Allstars. The first single “Ya Ali - Félix 3am Remix" originally released on April 2nd, was followed by this second, “Ja Ali - Doctor Phono Remix” on April 9th.
